Silkies not laying!

Hi everyone,

I'm in need of some advice please.......

I purchased 3 silkies at the beginning of June and the lady I got them from said they were approximately 15 weeks old at that time. I understand that their POL is 21 weeks and if the dates are correct then they have just passed 25 weeks old and I have had no eggs from any of them to date.

I have changed their pellets from growers to layers in the last 2 weeks; give them grit regularly, clean their coop and run every week and always treat them for red mite at the same time. They do not have worms, are always lively and, I also let them roam in the garden too. There are no signs of foxes or anything that could cause them stress that I can tell and I am looking after them as best I can but feel I may be doing something wrong?? Any help you could offer would be gratefully received and I attach some pictures of them because there is a very obvious reason why they won't lay, but I am such a novice I wouldn't know if they were boys and not girls!!!

Thank you in advance,

Alze

. I believe silkies are a breed that can just take a bit longer to mature/

Silkies are late layors, and are not great layors anyway. Expect small whitish eggs, but maybe not for several weeks more. Roosters will crow, just like any other roos.

I'd go searc the silky thread, or just ask them. :D

I'm afraid I can't advice you. Never had Silkies. But I hope you get some eggs soon!

from Alabama. Glad you joined us. Like everyone else said, silkies begin laying a little later than other breeds. Ours didn't start until like 9-10 months old, and one of them went broody within a week of laying it's first egg lol. Good luck with them
