Silkies Of A Different Color

Another color question for a show entry. This is "Swiffer" & I have him in a show this weekend as a lemon blue, but he does have some lacing on his breast that looks a bit like partridge. & he might even resemble a salmon. Since he's already in the AOV category, do you think they'll DQ him if his color is wrong? Showing these oddball colored Sizzles is new to me. I've done great with my BBS Sizzles but now I want to get bold & go for the rainbow colors. So is he funky (thumbs down) or fine (thumbs up)?

I'll take a stab at it...he looks blue birchen to me. I believe the lacing on the chest is characteristic of birchen.

The girl in my avatar is my precious Tina, she's a "porcelain" or self blue cream. I'm still not sure what I'm supposed to call her. Anyway, here's a better picture of her with her sister. Tina is the darker one and Lola is the lighter one

I thought I posted a reply earlier, but it seems not to have shown up, oops! What lovely hens and I especially love the name Tina for a hen. I may have to borrow that

I'm pretty sure my girl can't be a porcelain as she doesn't have a porcelain parent. I think she is a porcelain look alike though.

I'd be leaning towards a blue partridge. I think blue partridge is AOV. So, I think you have to be sure and get her in the correct category. The judges won't do that for you.
I have a Frizzled Silkie I'd like to enter at Stockton but not sure on color. Is she a partridge, blue partridge, or ??? Here she is with the flash on. Here's one in outside light. Her true color is probably somewhere in between the 2. Can I just enter her as a partridge
i probably would. How she is judged will depend.on the judge. You can probably change the coop card to add blue if necessary

he is closer (much) to salmon. Doesn't look at all like lemon blue

yes, birchen patterned birds have breast lacing. Proper name for a blue birchen is eithe silber blue or.lemon blue. Depending an whether they are silver or gold. A mix of silver and gold is neither. Does he have a ground coloured or base coloured wing triangle? That will answer the variety queztion

I have had a lot of interest in her. If you will PM me I will be happy to add you to the list. :) I will be sure and report back here about chick color. I wish I knew what she looked like as a chick!!! I can imagine that you've had a ton of people responding about your silkie. Thank you for adding me to your list. Can't wait to see what you hatch.
