Silkies Of A Different Color

Pics
I also got this big boy a month ago, when I got Toast. What would you call/think of this color? His hackles are a buff color, but the rest of him is black/blue.
I had one like him, his son was a splash and has the gold too. His daughter is black with gold in her neck. I asked about my boy a couple years ago and was told the gold is just leakage. I like how it looks, especially on the black roosters, it makes them look lkie 80's rockstars with big, frosted hair lol!
I have no idea really about the color, but it does look like red pyle to me when I googled it. Cute silkie! I hope he feel better soon :)
Yeah, think definately Red Pyle. I just would love someone who breeds these to confirm it. Thank you, he is feeling better. He cleared up completely by day 3 of the Tylan. That stuff really works well. I put him back out, and he has been running around and trying to breed with the hens, and getting his little fuzzy butt kicked by them as a result. He is too big for his britches!

Thank you Fur n Feathers & Sonoran. Your answers made me grab my camera & hurry to try & get some better pics - entry deadline is today!! Normally I wouldn't be this worried over colors, but this is for the Western Nationals & the entry says - NO CHANGES AFTER DEADLINE - so I assume if I guess wrong the judges will just DQ rather than write the correct color in. Anyway, I know these colors are a bit funky & Swiffer is an AOV anyway so probably won't make a difference on him, & the Frizzle Silkie may get a color DQ no matter what I enter her as, but I really appreciate any help & advice you can give.

Here's Swiffer, showing his wing & breast so you can see the lacing.

And here is the Frizzled Silkie taken in the sun so shows her color a bit better. She does have the partridge pattern on the breast & wings, but it's hard to see.

Thank you soooo much.

I wouln't say red pyle, then again I have no experience with the coloration in silkies, only oegames. He is cute though!

This is the Red Pyle (I Think) that I was referring to from my previous post. He is adorable, he actually belongs to my son, his name is Freedom :) I would love to have someone who breeds Red Pyle Sikies confirm or refute my suspicions, It will help me with whether I should breed him, and who to as well.

You are very welcome Country! I still think she is blue partridge. And Swiffer is just so cool looking, think I can see penciling in the chest area there and in the wing area. He has so much blue and cream I just don't know. I think there is a color called silver blue and cream birchen, but that doesn't sound very "official" does it? I just got online and this is probably too late but I tried!

Be sure and take pictures and tell us how it goes!

Country, I just went to www.feathersite.com and could not find "silver blue and cream birchen" so that is probably NOT an official color. Sonoran said he did not look like a lemon blue to her and she is the color and genetics expert. That is a good site to check coloring and they have wonderful examples of coloring. Here is a link for the frizzles: http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry//CGD/Friz/BRKFrizzles.html (If that doesn't link you can copy and paste) Nothing like Swiffer though.

Thanks also to TreatsRule. And to VioletBlueIvy, thank you. It was either Swiffer or Ragmop or Mophead & I thought that Swiffer sounded a bit more "upper crust." LOL! The poor little guy is such a mess already that I hated to add to his problems with a name like Mophead.
I went ahead & entered him as a Salmon but I don't think he has enough red on his wing to make him a "good" Salmon. However, since he's AOV & will probably be the only one in his class, it shouldn't make any difference unless they DQ him. I have until Midnight (CA time) to email a change so if anyone thinks he would do better as another color please let me know. Thanks again to all.

Fur N Feathers, I have a chocolate roo to go with your little hen.

Here is the little hen I have in with him. Pardon her appearance & lack of crest as she chose some of our coldest weather to do a hard molt.

Believe it or not, the picture below is what she looked like this summer - dark blue with white undercoat showing through. I posted her on here to try & figure out if she was a mottled, reverse splash, or ???? No sense worrying about it now unless she molts & goes back to her original color. It was a nice color though & everyone wanted babies if they looked like her. So much for counting chicks before they hatched (and before Momma hen molted)!

So what do you say. Do we start a chocolate project?

Beautiful boy & a great name! I keep hoping to get a nice red pyle but everything so far has a lot of black smut or else they have a lot of lavender undercoat. They're pretty but not as nice as Freedom.
