my new columbian pair![]()
im super happy with them!!!
they have their flaws, but i think they're both are very nice.... big crests and compact bodies. theres lots of dark under coat in the roo, not happy about that but, they're so hard to find and new blood is much appreciated here. the hen is a little light on markings only a few black dots on the neck and tail feathers but wing markings are there.
so anyone have any ideas on how to clear up the gray under coats? wile hopefully intensify the markings on the hens in the next generations?

If they are e^b based, they will have a dark undercoat. If they are E^Wh based, they will not, but you will have issues witheye and skin and comb colour being too light.my new columbian pair![]()

Aaahhhh.. that makes since. because the Colombian roo i have now, well before i got this new pair does have lighter eyes and more of a mulberry comb but very clear white under coat.If they are e^b based, they will have a dark undercoat. If they are E^Wh based, they will not, but you will have issues witheye and skin and comb colour being too light.
BTW, I think you have a very good start on columbian!
Yup your safe Pam,So, you have a roo for you project? Cuz I'm getting attached to him_Pam![]()
Yup your safe Pam,
you can rest a-sure i no longer have a plans to track you down and beg you for your sweetie, although i still think he's a looker

Quote: It is worth a test hatch...cross your best of both with each other and see how they turn out. And definitely keep us informed. I've thought with buffs that pairing wheaten birds with e^b ones might well give the best mix of clear plumage and dark skin. Can't hurt to try.
