Silkies Of A Different Color

It is worth a test hatch...cross your best of both with each other and see how they turn out.  And definitely keep us informed.  I've thought with buffs that pairing wheaten birds with e^b ones might well give the best mix of clear plumage and dark skin.  Can't hurt to try.

Oh there will be plenty of testing going on come spring!!
I have the pair and one younger roo from the new blood e^b ones and the original Wheaton columbian roo, plus 3 Wheaton columbian chicks (unsexed) as well as a good handfull of silver partridge ( pullets hopefully) from earlier mating. So I will have lots of shuffling to do but I'm very optimistic!!!
Love posting picture so rest assured there will be plenty of updating going on:)

i vote columbian:) but it might be because thats what i want him to be, love him talked to you on facebook about how much i adore him

Absolutely beautiful!

These are my 3 Splash Silkies. They are 19 wks old. I'm thinking Splash Gordon is male simply because he is bigger than all the others from the same hatch.

This first picture is Splash Gordon.

This next picture is Marsha on the left. Might also be a Roo, if so then Marshall. The one to the right is Betsy, much smaller than the other two.

I also have 2 Blue Silkies. One I hatched and is 20wks, the other is 19wks old and is a hatchery chick. BUT they were hiding while I was taking pictures so I'll get them another day.

I picked out a few of my friendliest silkies for a photo op since we had a snow storm the other day. I believe that one is a calico and the other a silver partridge (with incorrect red feathering on the wings). And obviously a white and buff hen
