Silkies Of A Different Color

what color are these three chicks? This is my first silkie hatch. Mom was partridge and dad splash ;)

this one is a little lighter colored

you can see the darker one pretty good there...

the colors on the 3rd pic are more correct. I have a few more. It's also the 3 silkies, I have 3 EE in there too ;)

ok, so one is yellowish, one lighter and one darker. What do you think?

The first one, with the ADORABLE little mohawk, looks black or very dark blue. They can be difficult to tell apart, but if you have a splash or blue to breed it to, you'll eventually be able to figure out what color it is depending on its offsprings colors. If its black and you breed it to splash, all chicks will be blue. Black bred to blue will give you only blue and black. Blue bred to splash will give blue, black and splash. Blue to blue gives blue and splash. Black to black gives all black. The other looks like a very light buff, to me at least.

Here is a little three month old roo I have coming up. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he is a porcelain, but he is a silkie of a different color right now. Great lavender crest, beard, and undercoat - but a darker orangish frosting on the back and wings and chest.
