Silkies Of A Different Color

You have miscolored (smutty) buffs, the cockerel is lord knows what, and the other looks gray but who knows without getting into the details of the pattern. I am betting they came from mixed color pen breedings? They are cute. I only see one that looks like a boy right now, but when they lay you'll know for sure.

Gotta love the showgirls!

so how hard is it to "breed" a show girl? it couldn't possibly be as simple as crossing a NN w/ silkie?? I crossed silkie with cochin and they came out smooth feathered and mostly yellow skin. But have beards and 5 toes (make wonderful broodies on a side note) how hard is it to get the silkied feathers? I have some lovely little feather footed NN ...hhmmm I wonder how they would do crossed with my blue silkie roo.

It's easier to start with decent showgirls than to reinvent the wheel by doing a turkenxsilkie cross. I don't know how many generations in mine are, but they look just like silkies except for naked necks.

I'm no genetic expert by any means, but the reason tgrlily thinks some SG are scarey is that there are two
completely different looking SG. Different genetically also.

One set is Homozygous and the others are Hetrozygous.

Some have total naked neck [Homozygous] and some have big "bowties" like Ultrasol. They are Hetrozygous

The birds that Aubreynoramarie has pictured are the Homozygous. Her birds will produce NN all the time, the others won't.

You have to be careful with the ones like Aubreynoramarie, each generation of SG will be more and more naked.
And they will become "scarey" too.
