Your correct! I wasn't even thinking. The color gives it away on the sex, lol.

Yeah as soon as you see red coming out, it's a boy. Now if only the rest of the silkie pallet colors were that easy!

Isn't that the truth

He looks to be a grey with autosomal red cockerel. Some call it tortoise; some call it calico, but the term calico was originally coined to describe splash with spots of autosomal red, not grey.

Thanks so much! Whether its a boy or a girl, I need to re-home him

Don't have the room for Calico..

Autosomal means it is possible on both sexes, so this red is NOT sex-linked !!

A duocolor Splash.

I am not familiar with that term. What would be the two colors?

As this one :

This means the coloration have not as ground-color E/E (Extended Black) with Bl/Bl (double doses diluting blue) but eb/eb (Asiatic partridge) with Bl/Bl (double doses diluting blue) in this case the the ground-color is based on gold.

I am posting some pictures of a 4 mo old silkie that I just purchased. I liked the color but have no idea what to call this color. Also any input on male or female would be appreciated. This one is a bit shy & acts more like my other 4 month old girl. I really don't care if it is a girl or boy as I have room for both. I am really new to silkies. They are so neat! Thanks.
