The past three nights, when I’ve gone to put the chickens in, my two silkies have been “roosting” in the doorway from the coop to the run. I have a guillotine door, and they are sitting on the lip at the base, where the door slides into the bottom of the coop, so they’re about 3 inches or so above the floor of the coop. This is preventing the others, namely the ducks, from being able to get into the coop. Last night I went out and both of the ducks were on the ramp waiting patiently to get in and the silkies were just sitting there watching them, with not a care in the world. What can I do to keep the silkies from doing this? I created a little roost just for them, and put it beside the door, but they aren’t using it. I’m wondering if they like to be able to see outside and maybe it would work if I were to cut another window out, silkie height?? Any suggestions are appreciated.
