I have a buff hen that I was going to add to my blue/splash pen. I have one blue roo and one splash roo. I was planning on selling the blue roo as he isn't as friendly and toe feathering isn't as good as the splash.

I know that some people breed the blue to the buff. But what about splash?

Anyone have pics?

Splash is basically 'pure blue'. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I know I've seen some buff splashes, and I think that's how they get those?

Breeding buff x splash isn't how "buff splash" is created. Breeding them will give you a smutty buff with blue replacing the black. It's this reason that some breed blue x buff. It doesn't improve the color at all, it just makes the black less noticeable. You shouldn't cross different varieties (excluding bbs) if you plan on keeping your colors pure.

If you breed buff to blue, of the buff offspring about hlaf should receive a copy of the blue gene, which will dilute any black pigment in the feathers. About half will not, and black pigment will remain undiluted. If you use a splash instead of a blue, all buff offspring will have black diluted to blue.

Note that I qualified those statements to refer to the buff offspring. You will have some blue offspring and also some who are a mix of colours.
