Silkies won’t lay

They are not great egg layers. Most chicken breeds slow down during short daylight hours and during molt. Spring they should start laying more normally .

Hi I broke my silkies broodyness a few weeks ago.ai thoug(t that they would start laying in a week or 2 but they still have not.Does anyone know what is going on and how to help them start laying agian?
It can take a while.

When a hen is laying eggs, she has a bunch of egg yolks ranging from pinhead size up to the big size that will go in tomorrow's egg.

When a hen goes broody, she absorbs the nutrients from the egg yolks, so she doesn't have to spend as much time off the nest eating.

But it can take several weeks to get another set of egg yolks developed to the right sizes, and she won't lay until that happens.

This also happens when people add artifical light to encourage winter laying: a hen that was not laying will need several weeks of extra light (developing those egg yolks) before she lays the first egg.
