I have 1 rooster and 2 silkies hens. Yes I know a rooster should have at least 4, I am getting 3 arucanas in the following days but before march they were laying just fine and my rooster never over mates or stresses or crows very often, he is a very kind rooster. I seperated 1 of my silkies with 9 fertile eggs under her and after 5 days I returned her but my hen and rooster really damaged her but I made sure to seperate her before she got bloody. She was not extensively damaged in any way. It has been a week and a half ad they seem to lay no eggs. My rooster is not stressing them out at all. They have fresh clean water, a full balanced chicken feed diet and I give them all 2-6 hours of love everyday. Any help?

A broody hen shuts down production and has to start everything back up when they start to lay. Think of preheating an oven after its been off. It takes a good bit to come back to temperature. Plus the stress of being moved around and then picked on probably didn't help

Why did you only leave her separated for 5 days? Was she already broody when you separated her? Were you trying to force her into brooding? What did you do with the eggs? How did you determine they were fertile?

If she was already broody, and you put her back with the roo, that would explain why she got so beat up. A broody doesn’t want to be mated— once they’ve stopped laying and gone full broody, being mated is useless. If she was actively trying to get back to her clutch, and fighting off the unwanted rooster attention, I’m not at all surprised she got hurt.

If you don’t fully understand the whole cycle of chicken reproduction, please research it, and only try again once you have a really good grasp of the way it works.
