Silkies

I thought all silkies we're bantams. We got ours from Tractor Supply in a mixed bantam group....ended up with 5 silkies & 5 cochins. We got them in March and they are HUGE! They are bigger then my Jersey Giants that we got last yr!

The silkies at tractor supply don't really meet the breed standard. Those are some monster silkies!

HA! I got mine from TSC in April of this year. They are MASSIVE. I have one non-TSC rooster, who adheres more to breed standard, and the smallest TSC rooster outweighs him by three pounds.

I'm dying lol that white silkie is HUGE! We got 3 in may and they are defienetly Batams. Much smaller then my other chickens. I second the do you live by a nuclear power plant lol!

I love all the responses!! No we do not live by a nuclear power plant, though that would explain it! LOL

We were starting to wonder if maybe they were bred with Brahamas due to their size....but they are definitely silkies as they have 5 toes

You can order Silkie broilers from Purely Poultry and Chick Hatchery. I imagine TSC secured their birds from a place that specializes in larger Silkies as meat birds.
