Mine only get dirty if it's wet out or muddy. Otherwise they keep clean.

They definitely get dirty and muddy when it rains but somehow they manage to get clean again.

I find that mine get dirty on their feet mostly due to the heavy feathering.

My hen keeps herself pretty tidy (unless it's muddy out). But my rooster, well, let's say he likes to eat a lot and sleep under the other chickens so he gets pooped on.
