I know it’s impossible to sex silkie until they crow/lay but just want opinions. (I will not take action until I know for a fact. I just am a curious chicken owner!). She’s starting to develop wattles and a big comb and is 8-9 weeks. What are you thinking, pullet or cockerel?

This is a satin showgirl, not a silkie and I agree, looks like a cockerel. Comb and wattle development confirm this. He is a cutie! 😊

I thought they were technically the same breed🤦🏼‍♀️ Oops. I was really hoping for a hen, and this ones my favorite, sweetest one

Very definitely not a silkie.

And most probably very likely a boy!

Seems like a roo.
But silkies/showgirls are strange when it comes to sexing, they all grow differently! Wattles and combs don't ALWAYS mean roos!
That's interesting. I wonder if it's because there are so many different breeds in there?
