Silkies

So if I understand correctly, it is fine to have 2 or more roosters together. They will fight to get to a certain picking order for a while, then settled and can cooperate/living together. Is this right?

All I have are silkies.... can't bring myself to get anything else... now I want to breed and raise them for kids.

I am sooooooooo enjoying them! Best pets I ever had, and the eggs come daily as well.

How can you not want 10 of these?!

It's okay to have two together, but bare in mind that the ratio of roos to hens is 1 rooster per 9 hens. Some people say 10, but I find that 9 works best. (If you have less hens than 9 right now, then your rooster isn't picky and that's okay. Mainly, the ratio only applys when you have only one rooster because sometimes the hens will acquire bare-backs.) You can expect fighting if there are too few hens per male. After a while, they will tolerate each others' presence.

I love my silkies, I want more. They go broody very often, though-be ready. I ave two-the Ninja Sisters. The rest of the flock fear them. They are extremely docile, though, and I think that they are my favorites.

Nest box size: they use my regular nest boxes. For brooding, I have a couple of those rubbermaid tote tubs in the garage that work perfectly for setting hens.

I would get three or four.
