silkies

i got silkies for first time i was wondering will these birds be fine to raise just as normal birds in winter as i live in northern indiana and it gets below 10 sometimes they are barn birds i only let them free range when im home. i also have their timer set to 12 hours of daylight will silkies lay and set in the middle of winter?

As long as they have adequate draft free shelter with food and unfrozen water they should be fine. If it get's very very cold you could use a heat lamp, but that is a fire hazard and I only use it in extreme circumstances.

They will be fine in winter. They sit on their feet to keep them warm & they will huddle together for heat - as long as there are no major drafts they will be no different than the rest of the hens.
