Do they ever stop chirping like chicks? I was just wondering because I have some pretty old hens (I think....Lol) that still chirp...

My silkies (and banty cochins) are very vocal. They cry out often. It sounds like a woman either crying or laughing very loudly. I can't really figure out what sets them off. Perhaps they are yelling about someone laying an egg? Or maybe they don't like that some other chickens are let out to free range and they aren't? I worry a bit more about predators for my littluns and only let them out when I can watch them, but they have a HUGE run, with plenty of toys and jungle gym apparatus, so they are really just throwing temper tantrums like a spoiled child would.

Like its a chirp... Like a baby chick's call... Do they lose that eventually?

Mine make a large variety of sounds. Sometimes they purr, coo, chirp, growl and of course, the screaming. If they are already a year or two old, id say they probably wont stop. Do you mind it?

Lol. Nah. I kind of think it's cute. I love my silkies. They are my sweetest birds

Silkies are the best! Although I think it has something to do with the fact that they have no clue what's going on around them because of their poofs! LOL!

Lol. I walked up to one of my younger hens... I was a foot away and she walked right into me. I guess she was looking at the fluff in her eye or something. She sqawked and flew/flapped away. Silkies can't fly... Poor things. Anyway, I picked her up and calmed her down. I love her. So... They make more sounds than normal breeds then?

Would love to see pictures of your jungle gym!!!

My girl pecks at everything until she finally nails something! I feel so bad for her sometimes and I've even trimmed back her fuzz. Ever tried giving a chicken a haircut?
