Silkies

We have some silkie chickens for pets. Now my 9 year old daughter wants to start showing silkies in 4-H. We joined a 4-H group. I know nothing about showing chickens. What do I need to know? Is there a place online or a book that I can purchase to learn about chickens? Is there anyone on here that sells show quality silkie chickens? Thank you.

We are a 4H family as well. My kids have won Grand and Reserve over the last several years thanks to some of the knowledge we've gained here.

Your extension agent should be able to hook you up with someone local as well.

This is a great place to get info too. There is a silkie thread. You can put most anything in the search bar and come up with most of what you need.

I know there is a silkie thread for bathing and grooming for show. If you put in the search box it should pop up. I would expect if you put "how to show silkies," or something to that effect in the search box you may find some answers. Welcome to the flock. Silkies are very popular and rightly so.
