So I bought a Silkie with my batch of chicks today, they were right next to the Bantams. It is the same size as the small bantam chick I got at the same time but the Silkies werent marked Bantam. Are Silkies just a smaller bird or did I get a Bantam? Also I was wondering if anyone could help me guess the adult color?

This little one definitely looks like a blue silkie to me. Greys are not very common and typically have chipmunk stripes as babies (even when they don't I believe their chick down is still quite a bit more varied light/dark than this little one and in a different pattern). Splash chicks are usually very light colored, almost white looking with some silvery accents as chicks from what I've seen.

Your little silkie is very likely a bantam. Silkies only come in the bantam variety in the US if bred to standard so nearly all silkies in the US are bantams including most sold at feed stores. I've seen meat/broiler silkies that were much larger but I think they are relatively uncommon and so far I've only ever seen them in the white variety.

I hope I was able to help answer your questions. :)

Thanks! Very informative! I looked up the hatchery she came from and they only have bantam silkies.
