how much room do geese need

We have 7 African Geese in a 40 x 40 compound and they have a 10 x 10 shelter.
Holderread's "The Book of Geese," advises 10sq ft for the night pen as a minimum and at least 20 for the day... per bird.
I read that on a one acre lot you can have 30 geese.
