I am incubating my first set of eggs in a home made incubator. I started off with 6 eggs but 3 days into incubation the thermostat stopped working so i have been checking the temperature every 1/2 to 1 hour intervals and adjusting tape over holes to regulate the temp. i couldn't let them die and didn't have spare money to get another thermostat. They are very expensive over here. Anyway to cut a long story short 1 was infertile, I thought another one was infertile and killed the wee baby i felt so bad

. I was left with 4 but at the 14 day candling two were not growing. Turned out they had died in the first week too. So now i have 2 one has hatched yesterday

but the other egg isn't moving or anything. Do i candle it to see or wait and how long should i wait for as as long as its in the incubator it means 1/2 hourly temp checks day and night for me. Today is only day 21 and i know i have to be patient but any advice would be helpful as i don't have very much knowledge yet. Praying that it will be ok

I would give it another day or two. Sometimes there are late hatchers in the bunch! Don't give up yet.

I would wait also. Since you had temperature problems in the beginning, that could make the egg hatch later.

Just DON'T OPEN THE EGG!! I did this to one that was 4 days late. They had been set on by the hen, and she wasn't doing a good job of keeping them warm. I opened the egg, and the chick was still alive and moving. I tried covering the holw I had made, but it didn't work, the chick still died.

Wait at least another day or two, and then candle. If there are any red veins inside the egg, put it back in the bator and wait a few more days!! Good Luck!!!
