Silly Question?

My kids were rubbing the ducklings belly and found a bump they thought was a belly button lol, I told them ducks dont have them.
I felt their belly too, and they do have something both of them do what could this be?

It IS the belly button. The umbilical connection to the yolk within the egg. Amazing, huh?

Yeah its where they absorb the yolk when hatching. My gosling still has a little bump their since it dried a bit.

I think thats so interesting , all my life I thought they just grew inside with nothing attached
