I've been googling and can only find info on chicken to human illness, so I thought I would ask here. I know this is silly, but I want to be careful. A friend of mine is bringing her daughter over. Her daughter has chicken pox. (yes, I know it has nothing to do with chickens) We are having a "pox party" so my little boys can get it naturally and get over it. (no judgement please, I'm a wellness consultant, I've done my research)
My question is this....My friends's girls have not met our chickens (4 weeks old today) and I know they're going to want to. So....is it safe for my chickens to be around the girls (and then my boys later) if they have or have been exposed to chicken pox. Please let me know what you think. I mean, I don't know if chickens catch things from us at all, and if they do, I mean, there is no way to keep it away from them completely. (I could be catching a cold right now and not know for example) They have been eating chick scratch with antibiotics. (Recommended by a friend I trust, though I'm generally against antibiotics for no reason)
Ok, I think that's all the info I can think to share. Thanks in advance!
