My girls just moved to the coop last week. They have a new rail feeder and I've been mixing starter and grower crumbles together. They eat the bigger pieces first and leave the finer ones. they don't seem interested in that until I dump it out on the floor of the coop and they go crazy after it!! Fill up the feeder and they act like this is a special treat. They are so goofy. They also seem to like attention now and begging for it. In the brooder they didn't act the same.
I am planning on fermenting feed but am waiting until this rash of fruit flies goes away. I had a freezer quit and didn't know it as it was behind the brooder, it was full of them. Loaded it with bug spray before cleaning it out, some escaped.
