Silver (Appleyard) Bantams

They are from http://www.duckcreekfarm.com

I'm not concerned about the breeding on these, really. They were specifically sent me as breeding stock.

Just was checking, I found several Duck Creek Farms when I looked, lol...

New duck left.

She looks more to type, for sure... I wonder if it is just because of how they were developed in the US? They very well might have been based of PQ Calls...
I will do some more digging, but I stongly suspect that is why they duckling down color is not identical to the lf variety...

They are absolutely gorgeous... :)

I have also looked into duck creek farm. The owner/operator is Dave Holderread's nephew, all holderread stock. Beautiful ducks. :love

Thanks!

Thanks! :) Yeah, after my ebay issues with the one seller, of my "mystery drake," I decided to order a decent pair from Duck Creek. I like the pair. Tney have very good color. I am partial to my one BSC hen, though, type-wise. She's super bonded to Mystery, so I have to split them up, and I don't look forward to it...

Ugh, that is never fun... good luck! :thumbsup

Just a note: Both BSC, seller of my other two hens, and Duck Creek Farm, have Holderread's stock. But, they are quite a few generations removed.

Also, Mystery is not related to any of my other ducks. Got him from a different ebay seller.

Very, very good points! If all birds were perfect, there wouldn't be dedicated breeders either... j/s...

Also, good to keep in mind the saying, "work with what you have"... ;)

Would love to see the offspring from him over your prior girl, hope you keep updating... :)

Btw, I found some old pics and have a couple new pics, need to pop back over to your other thread soon, lol...

Ah, yes, it would be so tempting to breed Mystery to her, but she may be my best hen :D ugh. Need to think on that. DH thinks I should rehome him, but I think he's fascinating!

Yes, the Holderread's page for mini silver appleyards actually directs customers to Duck Creek farm. That's how I found them. But, yes, the female did look a little dumpy typewise. I actually rehomed her with Mystery.

Now I have what I wanted. The Duck Creek male is in with my females from BSC. This trio is what I'm working with.
