Silver Laced. How is it transfered to another breed?

I'm working on a project and need to know how to get a silver laced color pattern over to another breed from one breed.. Do I mix the laced bird to (insert correct color here) to get it to transfer succesfully?

What breed do you want to become laced? Single or double laced?

I was planning on using silver laced polish. And working on getting that into sultans. Is it possible to get the silver laced into a white bird? Or do you have to cross it to a certain color?
