Recently on the Silkie Thread, I posted about my Grey pair that I had and loved a couple years back. They didn't make it to maturity but I sure loved the color on those two birds.

This was Stinkus. My beautiful Grey cockerel. He is only five months old in these pic's.

When they were youngsters.
I have had a closed flock for three years now and like it that way. Many of my pens are projects using what I have. But how to get started with a Silver Partridge pen or Grey has eluded me. Until today.
I haven't bought hatchery stock chickens in twenty years! But the local farm supply had beautiful Silver Laced Wyandotte chicks. They were healthy and so I brought home six.

The six Silver Laced Wyandottes I bought today.
These are the gene combinations I think I'll be working with or try to isolate.

What I need to isolate from my Silkie flock is a silver leaking black or near black partridge. I've had a couple in the past but I lost them to a predator last winter. One had autosomal red and one was clean. I have more chicks to grow out from that same breeding and will select for the F1 pen.
So...Another project. This one will be challenging for sure.
