Silver laced wyandotte hen?

Quote:
She's a splash wyandotte and she's very pretty.

ETA: She's still very young so you need to wait to see how she fills out before you know if she's really show quality.

I have 2 hatchery SLW hens too. I am not a show chicken gal, I just like them and like fresh eggs. Your girl is pretty.

We have two SLWs and an absolutely wonderful GLW they all have a lot of coloring but are all hatchery birds....we don't care about that, they are great hens! The two SLWs are differnt in their patterns one has LOTS of white and the other is more standard looking SLW. Our GLW is amazing looking but has a single comb not a rose comb. Again.... we dont show our hens...so we don't care about that.

Here comb is poor and show sighs of having a lot of single comb being bred into her.
As for body type she has a lot of growing to do.

So, questions? I too have one that looks like the original post pic.

Actually two, I was told one hen, one roo. The one that is supposed to be a roo does have slightly more lacing on the chest. The one that is supposed to be the hen is quite a bit smaller than the other. I posted pics in another forum here and most said yes, roo & hen with the note that yes they looked like hatchery and not qreat quality as far as lacing, coloring etc. but one did say they think two roos, one just a few weeks younger. ?????? but anyways....
Neither have crowed yet, so I guess time will tell,

So, here is my question, if they are "poor quality hatchery", is there any chance any offspring will be better or if I had others that were prettier in the lacing area etc. will they make more standard looking SLW?

As for now I'm not really concerned about this, just wondering for future breeding maybe, if in deed one of each. I am stll wondering if I have too Roos?????. No showing here, just backyard pets.

here are a couple pics taken about 2-3 weeks ago, not the best taken with cellphone, but maybe you can see

I was told they were like 22 weeks back a couple weeks ago, do you think?

As I said no crowing yet, when do they start crowing?

Roo?

Again Roo?

Roo in background, hen in front?

roo on left, hen right?

All the chickens in those pictures look like roosters to me!! And somewhere around 20 weeks looks about right to me. They will produce more of what they look like. I had a few hatchery SLW hens and they laid good and where hardy in the winter.

Thank you - well, I brought home 8 Giant Cochins yesterday, so even if only one roo, they have to go either to my daughters or a trade day tomorrow at a local store. I had been lettng them free range but they would go up at night BUT now my cochins get that coop, so they would have to free range all the time with no real coop.

Would it mean anything if the smaller looking of the two was more aggresive towards 2 or 3 of the cochins (4-5 months old)?

thanks

NO, I have several roos and several hens that are 2 months older than the younger ones in my large pen. I have a small pen and house in the larger one but it is open a crack so the smaller ones can get out but the big ones can't get in. The older chickens include various pure breeds and some of those breeds are much more tolerant of the young ones than others. The intolerant breeds chase them around the larger pen trying to peck them so I have added some small escape places in the corners pf the large pen so the little ones can get away.
As for sexes...I have both sexes, some that even stalk the chicks, waiting outside of their pen for them to come out.
All of the chicks and chickens free range during the day.

Oh yes...my oldest are about 4 1/2 months old and amost all of those go to the freezer.
