Hello, I just got my first flock of chickens & am so excited. I have 5 Rhode Island red hens and a silver laced Wyandotte rooster. I was planning on getting a RIR rooster, but then I realized that my silver laced was a rooster and not a hen. They are around 17 weeks old.
I am curious to know if this cross will produce sex-linked chicks? Or does it only work when the rooster is red and the hen is white/silver? If anyone has pics of this cross, I'd live it if you'd share!
Thanks for your help!!

An SLW rooster with RIR hens will not make sexlinks. The rooster has to be red and the hens have to be silver (or barred, for black sexlinks).

If you were to hatch from your current flock, all of the chicks, regardless of gender, would be predominantly white with black markings.
