I'm thinking very seriously about ordering some of these this spring, but I'm running across some rather conflicting information on what their personality is like. Some sources say they are calm, some say they are flighty.
Any input?

From what I hear around these boards- they are more docile when from a breeder and a bit more flighty from a hatchery.

I just picked up my chicks today and the SLW seem to be more content and passive (unless picked on) than the RIR's running around. That could also be a male/female thing.

I have a golden laced standard hen and she is very calm and docile .

I just got a pair of bantam silver laced wyandottes and they are the same way and very friendly

We have both SLWs and GLWs from Privettes' hatchery in NM. Neither are at all flighty. Not as social as the BOs we have, but still friendly.

i have owned a few.. not flighty... calm ?? docile??...more DULL than anything, not to much personality... not like a barred rock hen or a cuckoo maran,,, all the ones i have owned have been very dull

I have three currenlty that are about one year old. Did not loose any when brooded them from the hatchery. Very hardy birds and docile. I would order these again. They are good layers of large brown large eggs and nice looking birds as well.

There's another thread currently going on about 15 under yours titled "Orps and Wyandottes" that a lot of us chimed in on about our dottes. I love my ankle biters (GLW)!

Thanks for all the input.
I've gone ahead and ordered a dozen pullets for this spring.
