I seem to remember reading somewhere, that certain combs are more desireable for this breed. We have 3 Silver Laced Wyandotte Roosters lol, don't need them all, even though they are all very beautiful birds. But 2 of them have big single combs (you can see the top of one of the other roos in the bottom part of the pic for comparsion), and then there is this guy.............................

The boys start 4-H next year, and can show chickens. This guy was just got out of the straight run bin (all our chicks were), so I'm guessing he may not be anything special, but I'm really unsure. I thought he was a pullet because his comb was so different than the other two. Then he grew to massive proportions and started to crow lol.

Anyways, any tips or knowledge of Silver Laced roos would be great! I want to make the best choice I can when I think out the roos in my flock.

Agreed, Wyandottes are supposed to be rose combed.

Take a quick read through the Standard description of Wyandottes and it'll answer a lot of your questions on which of your boys to keep for breeding and which find new homes for, or just keep as pets.

So the rose comb is good then, right? Why do my others have single combs lol? I think his comb looks like an overgrown hemangioma lol.

This is what the other 2 look like, only one is huge and the other is a peanut.

See, I thought the rose combs had the little spiky thing on them. He doesn't have that either?

Mine don't have any spikes although I know that they can include them. Here's a picture of my black wyandotte's rose comb. I don't have any good shots of my SLWs combs, but they're the same pretty much.
