Silver Pheasant Rooster in with Goldens

So I have a yearling trio of Red Goldens, which I doubt will breed this year anyway, but I was wondering if my Silver roo will deter them from breeding. They all seem to get along just fine (the previous owner had told me that they grew up together), and when I tried separating the silver, he was NOT happy. So I put him back in and everyone looked happy. The reunion was also the first time I've seen my golden roo display (he was looking for a fight). Oh, and the reason he's with them is because I have yet to find some hens for him. Thanks!

Your red golden will breed this year.And yes the silver will not only interupt them he may even kill them.This is breeding season now for pheasants,so you ned to seperate immediately.

He's a really friendly bird, eats right out of my hand. So I don't really want to get rid of him. You think he could free range with my other poultry? I've heard that Silvers can free range without leaving, but idk if there's any truth to that.

And yes, I had read that they can be very vicious birds. Just wasn't sure if he might be an exception. Our temps are finally gonna be above 30 for the next two weeks (I think winter is gone!!

), which is why I'm asking, since warm weather seems to "change" birds.

Yeah exactly. I've never seen him even peck at the other pheasants. Another worry was if he was raised with them he might think he's a Golden, and I don't really need hybrids. I'd have no problem building him his own aviary if I could just find some hens (the few days I had him separated he constantly paced the pen and refused to eat. Once I put him back with the Goldens he ate like you wouldn't believe). In Mn everyone seems to raise only domestic poultry though.

My blue eared male doesn't come near me all year,then breeding season comes along and he greets me at the door every day.I can't resist having a little spat with him.The best thing about aggressive birds,they are excellent breeders and are very fertile.
I wouldn't suggest free ranging any pheasant unless you want to get rid of them.They very rarely stick around and boy are they beautiful when their flying off!

Haha. Well I'd rather keep his beauty around. He's really comical. I can't even take pictures of the other birds with him around. He acts like he knows what a camera is, and constantly gets in the way. And he loves doing the wing beating display for me. I guess I'll try portioning off part of the Goldens coop for him and keep looking for hens.
