Silver Wyandottes bantams? roo?

Spent some time hanging out in the baby chick coop, first thing is they've gotten big! They're not babies anymore! But one of the first things to get my attention was a flash of red in the flock. One of my Silvers is turning red around the head, none of the other chicks are turning that color. A few are have a little pinkish orange going on but nothing as bright as that red! Second thing I observed is the Silvers are smaller than the rest of the chicks that are the same age. In that age group are 2 Cuckoo Marans, 2 Easter Eggers, and the 2 Silver Wyandottes. I'm wondering if the Silvers are Bantams?

The red isn't as bright in the picture as it is in person, but here is my suspected roo.

It looks like a pullet. It could just be a smaller than average Wyandotte. Or your Easter Egger could just be big. My Easter Egger girls are both the biggest and the smallest in my flock. One is almost as big as the cockerel. The other is maybe about 3 or 4 pounds.

Thanks ! When I was planning my additions to the flock this spring I tried to pick breeds that would be similiar in size as well as a good blend of temperments, in addition to wanting a colorful egg basket! Last years flock of red comets and leghorns and all of their drama and aggressiveness is wearing thin! I'm loving the temperments of the new flock, just keeping a wary eye out for any bullying. The idea of having bantams is cute but I don't want to have to keep them seperate permanently! So far everybody in the new flock seems to get along with each other. It is rather interesting to see the little wyandottes next to the huge brahmas ( they're only a month older)!

Easter Eggers from a hatchery can have a wide range of sizes. This is Cocoa next to a barred Rock, they are both 20-22 weeks old.

This is Snowy. She is huge. She's a solid 6 pounds. She's bigger than my biggest barred Rock.
