I have been perusing the home built feeders and waterers for some time and have built my own.

I wanted to share what I used and some simple pictures.

For the feeder I used 4" PVC pipe and fittings from the local hardware store:

You need:

5' section of schedule 40 PVC (about $10)
90 degree elbow
4" cap
4" test cap

I cut the pipe into a 4' and 1' section of pipe.

I then used a 6" skill saw to cut the opening in the 1' section so the girls could eat.

I mounted the pipe to the wall with some plastic hanger strap I had. In hindsight, I should have used metal because the plastic pulls off the screws when the pipe is full of feed.

For the waterer (bottom of which you can see in the above picture) I used:

a 5 gallon bucket with lid
6" of 1" plastic tubing
2 pcs of barbed to 3/4" mpt fittings
2 hose clamps
5' section of 1" PVC
4 waterer nipples (got them from FarmTek supply which has a local store but you can buy them on the web. about $2.50 each)
11/32 drill bit or a 9mm if you have one. 11/32 is 8.7mm and the fit is tight getting the nipple in the pipe. 9mm is the right size.
2 90 degree elbows
1 tee
2 caps
a 3/4" bulkhead fitting to go through the bottom of the 5 gallon bucket

This one was just a cut and see what fit in the area.
I had the shelf brackets so I figured what better use for them.

My walls are fiberglass covered OSB sheeting so I can screw right into it and don't have to worry about the weight.

Nice. I thought I was looking at a picture of my feeder when I first looked at it. I built 4 like that and for larger flocks I made the pipes longer with a 22 degree elbow and hung the pipe at an angle so it would fit in the building. They hold 20 pounds of feed and last 10 birds around 5 days.
