simple question about the house

It took mine until almost 10 weeks old before they would put themselves up in the coop. I kept having to put them in. I would put them halfway up the ramp each time. Eventually they did it. I also put a brick under the ramp.

Well it’s been a week now that they are in their new home and they do go in by themselves....around lunchtime! I still have to get them in at night. I have to get 5 in and the last one will run up the ramp, otherwise I believe they will cuddle up together and sleep outside. Why do they go in the afternoon but not at night?

The picture showed one side of your coop, with no winedows or ventilation. Are the other sides more open? If it's an unventilated cave, nobody will like it. More pictures!

. The picture shows it closed but it’s been open. Also open in the back. Enough ventilation

Good deal!
My broody raised chicks start roosting up high early on, because mama encourages them, and demonstrates. Brooder raised chicks take much longer to get brave and fly to the roosts, and chicks with no adults to emulate will take longer.
Get them up into the coop and on their roosts every night for a while, and they will figure it out.

Just really curious about the night. Like I said, they all go inside for their afternoon naps, like right now, they are all up there. It’s nighttime, when they feel like they should enjoy they moonlight outside :barnie

ducks have their own setup. The coop has 2 roosts inside, 3 nesting boxes. and 1 large roost outside that they keep on knocking down till we nail it up again. I believe its big enough for them but my husband already has ideas on building something bigger, but I need him to finish the run first. The chicks are still small. They are only1 month old. They have no problem with the ramp. They hang on the ramp all the time. they go in at lunch. Just not night time.

I am following your thread because #1 I have the same coop, #2 my 4 week old chicks are going out soon, and #3 when they have been in the lower part of the coop for playtime, they are not interested in the ramp at all! :jumpy
