Simple things in life

My granddaughter sitting in my lap while I read her "Green Eggs And Ham"

Sitting out on the deck with a cup of coffee, watching the fluffybutts pick at bugs.

A thunderstorm.

A snowstorm.

The wind in the trees.

Hearing my granddaughter say, "I love you, Pappa".

A piece of really good dark chocolate.

Hearing kids laugh.

It's all good.

There have been lots of wonderful things listed!

Some of mine are:
- The smell of freshly mown hay
- My sweet little nephew, Lane (he's almost a month old)
- Watching the baby calves play
- Seeing my gardens grow (flowers and veggies)
- Eating a dinner completely raised on our farm
- Camping (and cooking over the campfire)
- Sitting and relaxing in the evening looking at the stars with my wonderful DH (we rarely have time to do this)
- Listening to the rain (especially today... it's been super dry)
- Thunderstorms
- Quliting
- Being able to serve my community as a volunteer firefighter
- Hugging my family

There's so many more...

Woods, streams, unspolied, untouched nature that makes you feel like you're the first to go there.

Seeing a dolphin. Wild. Playing at the bow of your boat.

Being alone in the fog on your boat, sails up, engine off, no sound but the whisper of water. (Creepy, too.)

My cat sitting on my stomach and purring.

Chickens.

Seeing a tree with the sun behind it, so the leaves are lit up and nearly transparent.

Dandylions.

Riding a horse.

Anything to do with a horse.

And...

A bar of dark chocolate.

watching the moon come up over the mountains. taking a walk at night when everyone else is asleep. waking up in the middle of the night inspired. hanging out with family and friends and doing NOTHING. kayaking. having my dogs come and sleep on my stomach when i'm asleep.

I thought of two more:

Watching the chickens dust bathe in the sun.

Seeing my muscovy napping with her head turned and her bill tucked in her wings.

Chicken watching - they don't even have to be mine

Watching our cat Ari frisk around the yard

Hummingbirds

The smell, taste and sound of the turning of the seasons

watching my DH play with our son

the way my rooster clucks to his hens when he finds a treat

my English Setter on point

my English Setter curled up on my bed

reading to my little boy

the sound of rain on our metal roof

the smell of juniper

the crispness of autumn mornings

most of all, being with my family during the holidays!!

Spontaneous hugs from my 6 year old son.
Hearing him giggle uncontrollably then joining in myself.
Hearing the first spring peepers!
Getting my ankles rubbed by the cats.
Being greeting loudly by my ducks when I walk through the gate.
Cracking open an egg fresh from the nest box and seeing that orange yolk, knowing how awesome it's going to taste!
That certain blue the sky gets when it's so blue it hurts your eyes to look at it.
The bright green of new spring leaves.
The sound of dry leaves crunching under my feet.
Pretty much everything about autumn!
