The same breeder I got my Silver Pencil Rocks from got 2 trios late this fall. I have wanted them for years, but didn't want the skinnier hatchery types I've seen so often.. when I saw his I fell in love and he knows my thing for using broodies and wanting a flock that can repopulate itself and produce good meaty birds to boot. When I went to get a dozen replacement eggs from him (one of the winter hatches hadn't done well, we are thinking the eggs got too cold before collection) ... so anyway, he was replacing those eggs for me and when I got there he had a dozen of the WR eggs ready for me too!!! I was so thrilled!!! The birds he has are beautiful, and I am hoping to end up with a flock mixed of WR, Pencil Rocks and Barred Rocks (along with a few EEs for color eggs and a few of my beloved mutts) Hopefully with broodies doing 99% of the work for us!That's why I'm incubating also...not sure of this broody and if she will go the distance and seriously need chicks from this pair or my breeding project is up in smoke.
So you are doing WRs too!!! Yay! I love this breed and it's good to know others are loving them as well. As we can't participate in Fred's PR thread now unless we use correct terminology, we might have to just chat together about our fave breed.![]()
