So you are doing WRs too!!! Yay! I love this breed and it's good to know others are loving them as well. As we can't participate in Fred's PR thread now unless we use correct terminology, we might have to just chat together about our fave breed.

The same breeder I got my Silver Pencil Rocks from got 2 trios late this fall. I have wanted them for years, but didn't want the skinnier hatchery types I've seen so often.. when I saw his I fell in love and he knows my thing for using broodies and wanting a flock that can repopulate itself and produce good meaty birds to boot. When I went to get a dozen replacement eggs from him (one of the winter hatches hadn't done well, we are thinking the eggs got too cold before collection) ... so anyway, he was replacing those eggs for me and when I got there he had a dozen of the WR eggs ready for me too!!! I was so thrilled!!! The birds he has are beautiful, and I am hoping to end up with a flock mixed of WR, Pencil Rocks and Barred Rocks (along with a few EEs for color eggs and a few of my beloved mutts) Hopefully with broodies doing 99% of the work for us!
 
Here is a snap of my BR rooster, we were burning a scrap wood pile and it was raining (I usually save my burn days for miserable wet weather) ... so when it is raining I just pop the hatch on the SUV and me and the pups keep (semi) dry. Squawky came to visit for a while....


one of my current broodies currently has 4 BR chicks also from the same breeder, I think it is 2 girls/2 boys... so should end up with my first decent trio of BRs if all goes well.

He hatched the end of August last year, so he's got a lot of filling out to do. For a quality back yard flock he should do great... I don't show, so can't judge him to show standards, but he has good strong legs, medium back length and a decent shape to my eye... and his head and face are just beautiful (again, this is to my prejudiced eye! LOL)

I like a rooster who is well balanced in his body shape, decent with people and (my) dogs and good with baby chicks... he passed on all counts.
