Embden is one of the breeds they breed for down production...now that would be cool, wouldn't it? Doing a live harvest of down in season and making your own pillows and such. I don't know how they will do around kids....geese are so loud and can sometimes be aggressive...I wonder if you can train them out of that like you'd train a rooster? Hmmmmm......

Bee, the joy in your post has made my night... I am so happy for you that your eggs are developing.... don't apologize for sharing your joy!I do believe I have caught the incubation fever that has always left me wondering about folks....this batch of eggs is so textbook perfect that I can hardly stop candling at least one egg as I go by the nest just because I can see the chick moving around in there! All those other times I couldn't see that until towards the end and that was only on this last nest. Now I have so many eggs with veins, eyes, moving chicks, etc. that I'm just tickled to death when I look in an egg!!
NOW I know what you guys were talking about and it's purely addictive and brings me such joy to know there are growing, living little chicks in those eggs and they all look so healthy and on a normal growth pattern! I'm simply amazed and overjoyed!Sorry if this sounds repetitive but I just have to shout about it to someone or I'll just burst! This has been a long time comin' and it's like the sun has come out after a week of hard rain.![]()
