Just to clarify Niki I wasn't doubting the blue face part of it, I was asking the genetics aspect. I read blue face was dominant, and was wondering if I would get all blue face from her eggs!

i already told ya that silly lol! You can expect atleast over 75% of them to be blue face no matter what you breed her to, however if she and her mate carry a reccessive gene and it matches up on the same chick you will be lucky and get something else

Something recessive of blue face, which I don't know what's recessive of blue face and it all depends on her individual genetics what she has that's recessive, and only if the male you breed her to has the same recessive genetics. Which is why i feel that breeders of birds should do pedigrees on their birds just like they do for other animals. If youwere to hav ea pedigree on her, you'd know what she carries but without one you can only guess from what you know (if you know what color her parents were). The other thing too is that I have no clue if your chicks will to be dominant for blueface but i guess you'll findout if they're born without a white throat then they are only a single factor

I thought you were questioning the color, that's why I wanted to help, but get other peoples thoughts...

I wasnt offended by you quesitoning by the way i fully admit im still learning but i was positive what she was and was happyto get other breeders views to help

I didn't doubt what you said, I was just curious.

Why is genetics so much different in birds than people?? Like say eye color, for example. If hazel eyes is dominant over blue eyes (which it is), then all the kids will have hazel eyes! So simple! But nooooooooo! Birds have to be difficult! I was thinking that the 'double factor' blue would mean that she got the blue faced gene from both her parents, but that's not the way it works I guess? So confusing!!

But here I am, complaining about blue birds, and thinking I'm gonna get rid of all my banties. Except for the blue and blue splash OEGB hens that I have (that need a roo) and the blue splash dutch hen I have (that also needs a roo). Plus I was thinking of getting self blue bantams as well! I'm crazy!!!

Button quail genetics I think are extreemly confusing and I even think that not even the best button quail breeders have it "all down". Least to me it looks like they just have theories. Button quails are too darn colorful! LOL! Darn those lil cuties!!!

Blues gotta show up in coturnix someday....and you betcha I'll get my lil grubby hands on em

he he he....

also I do think that your hen atleast one of her parents was a double factor blue OR, both parents were or carried single factor blue.

However, thats just theory from whati know of other animal genetics.
