well the van i came down here to drive back up north had a little bit of a problem after all. It's been sitting since Janurary and as soon as I drove it out of the storage lot the brakes went all mushy on me. Rats, the rearview mirror confirmed... brake fluid on the ground.

Limped the van back to my mom n dad's house and find out that not only the brake line in the front passenger side, but the rear driver side burst as well. Sigh, I've been up since 5:30 playing with it (since its the coolest in early morning) and have figured out where the burst areas are. Now I have to buy some steel brake line and hope the bleeders on the brakes aren't rusted shut

I am thankful it was something simple like this, but it's going to be another 100+ day here so I'll start the repairs later on tonight

well I made it home tonight. From kansas it should have been a 12 1/2 hour drive but it ended up being closer to 19 including the hour we skipped ahead. Had soemthing fray the serpentine belt in the big van and it took out my power steering line somewhere in western Illinois. Luckily the pump wasn't ruined and I was able to patch it with the help of a super great and nice tow truck driver and his wife. He actually had all the parts needed to fix it back at his garage and I was off in less than 2 hours from breakdown!!!!!!!!!!

Whew!

It was worth it getting the van home, and we had oodles of fun. Now I can bring the family out in public with 1 vehicle

PS, my texas fam followed me home (mom dad and most of the sibs) so I'll be busy for the next week and a half
