Delighted to report that one of my 3 week old males stood up to make a crow and the most adorable little songbird chirping came out. I'm aware that they used to be breed for their songs before WWII, but I admit I was never able to picture it until now. Here's hoping he doesn't hit puberty and lose his "choir boy" voice. I'll try and get a video of it at some point!

Does anyone else have any good little singers? Wondering how common it is

If you were closer, I'd offer to buy him.

I banded him as soon as he stopped singing and he's spent the rest of the day sulking around the cage with his fashionable new accessory. So far he hasn't done it again, probably because I was actually breeding for *quiet* boys, not singers! I can count on my fingers how many times I've heard his father crow. I'll be stalking this little guy with a camera... It was so cute, he sounded like a finch.
