Do any of you sing to your chickens? Do they have a favorite song? (Do YOU have a favorite song to sing to them?) Just wondering...

My voice is a registered weapon. If I sang to my chickens, not only would they stop laying, but the authorities would visit me for cruelty to animals.

Motivational lectures containing phrases like "chicken soup", on the other hand, have worked well for me.

I read somewhere that chickens like to be sung to. So I sang Mary had a little lamb, and they did stop and listen. It was pretty funny.

I make up my own songs and sometimes they are mean and sometimes they are not. I made up a songh called bok boks trip to KFC and how she managed to get away. its a fun song

Some would call my voice a weapon too, but that hasn't stopped me yet

I have a feeling my kids will fill in for any musical void the chickens may be experiencing.

I whistle bird calls at mine and also imitate bawking.
They stand motionless until I'm done. I don't sing to them , but I have a rooster who crows every time Metallica comes on the radio. My little fluffy white metal head silkie.

I would say that one of the great things about chickens is that they don't much CARE if your voice is a registered weapon. They are the only appreciative audience I *have* - the children prefer to make thier own noises, the cats leave, the horses ignore me.

I do not know whether the chickens *like* my singing, or are just awestruck that I can't do any better, but I'm not proud, I'll take what I can get <vbg>

I told stories to our hen that we lost last fall to internal laying, back when I was giving her daily warm-water sitz baths. She actually DID seem to like that, made little chicken-language comments at appropriate places.
