We fell in love with a 7 month old bantam EE at our local 4H. We'd like to incorporate her into our (expanding soon!) home flock of only two chickens. Our girls at home are only 14 weeks old, but are bigger in size than the bantam.
We COULD purchase a flock mate of the bantam from 4H so she'd have a friend, but really we were hoping to stick with standard sized hens. I want what will be best for the new girl as well as my existing chicks. Will the bantam be sad if she comes to her new home alone? My pullets at home (a polish and an EE) are sweet and docile, but I know that could all change when I bring home a stranger.
Any advice would be appreciated. I'll end up getting two of these bantams if it is the best thing, but because we cannot have more than 6 chickens, I'd rather limit the number of bantams. DH is NOT interested in bantams due to the small egg size, and I want to leave room in my coop for some Orpinton babies!
Thanks for any thoughts
