Here's Petri in his little fake plant I gave him to hide in since he is so nervous.

Petri could be a cinnamon splash which is a light cinnamon with splashes of shades of reds OR a Cinnamon Red Breasted male. All we wait for is when he has all his adult color feathers

He is a darling no matter what.

Now he's getting a darker head.

He is a boy for sure because he is getting a bib in.

Sometimes he will even sit on my hand for a while!

But most of the time he just runs around the house like a maniac, haha.

He can be quiet the cutie when he holds still though!

He enjoys his shelf with the collection of feathers from my parrots on it.

He's looking really good!! I've heard on here that male buttons go through all sorts of colour changes before they get their adult feathers, lol. Should be interesting to see what he ends up like once his adult feathers have grown in

Love all the cute pics. Is he tame still?

I agree that he is a boy BUT you cannot use the presence (or lack of) bib to determine sex. Several colors have un-bibbed males and others have bibbed females. Safest way to sex is by vent feather coloring and/or behavior.

He looks like he's probably cinnamon, they go through some wild color morphs before finally getting their 'big bird' feathers. Case in point: This bird---

The little guy is growing nice and looking great!

I kinda like that they change colors. I've raised parakeets for years, and always loved the wait to see what rainbow of colors they would be and loved watching them change.
