Hi everyone! I have sort of a unique situation here and hoping you could all help me. Long story short, I had some meets I agreed to keep for a neighbor just till they didn't need a heat lamp etc. I had them in the garage in a big dog cage and somehow, a neighbors rat terrier got them. (This was a while ago maybe at 6 weeks old) one died and the other was missing almost his entire wing. I reset the wing got him all healed up (it was touch and go there for a while but he is 12 weeks old and doing great! Since then the 6 healthy ones have been turned free on the neighbors horse farm and doing great. Scooter is missing almost the entire wing and isn't able to fly. He has become our family pet. :) now I have the dilemma of housing for him. He is ready to be out of this dog cage. i have been letting him loose for the last 3 days and he very willingly comes running to me when its time to come in. We have a huge fenced in back yard, tons of bushes large and small. My dogs are getting use to him now and that's going great. I need to build some type of house for him. I'm thinking of something off of the ground, not sure how high to build it. If higher, we would need some sort of a ramp, cause he can't fly. But I thought something like that would be best, he could feel like he is roosting high and secure and we could remove the ramp at night so nothing can get up there. I don't want a huge run, just something I can build nicely by our big lilac bush. Has anyone done this before? How is he going to fare by himself? All the other guineas are free range at my neighbors but I know he can't be cause he can't fly. Do I need food and water in his coop? Or can I leave that out in the yard?

Someone suggested to me a dog house on stilts with a ramp, straw as bedding, do you think that would work? Should we put a perch in there? He likes to roost on my hand and arm but I have to help him, how big would we need it? In the winter if there is super nasty weather will be be ok being locked in his house? Or shouldn't I worry about that. Lol, sorry, I have tons of questions. I want this to, to be as low maintenance as possible. We weren't really expecting the responsibility of another pet as I'm busy with my little munchkins, but he grew on me and I just live him :)

Thanks! He's so cute! Right now I'm feeding the baby in the recliner by the window, and he's sitting outside the window hollering at me. He wants me to come out and play, lolol
