I have been left with a single keet (1 1/2 wks old) Momma and other keets were killed a couple nights ago. I have it in a box with light/ food and water and is doing well. I know it isn't good to have only one, but have tried to find someone who has other babies to take it in, and even tried it with a broody hen of mine but no success. Any suggestions would be helpful. I still have my 2 adult male guineas. They miss their sweetheart, me too.

Not an ideal situation but if nothing else is available, get a few newly hatched chicks to put in with it. In the meantime put a small mirror in the brooder with it. Some people have luck by also putting a small soft stuffed animal in with a lone chick, etc. A suspended feather duster can also be comforting for the keet to snuggle into the feathers.

I have a stuffed critter in with it, and it does go to sleep on it. I'm going to try the mirror and will go get a new feather duster. It is so scared every time I put my hand in to change water, add food, etc. I do it all very slowly, but I guess it sees anything as a threat, which is understandable. Thanks for your suggestions.

Thank you for the suggestion of the feather duster. It has worked wonders to comfort the keet. He has quieted down so much. Still eating good/active. Haven't been able to find any other chicks to be with him so guess we will make the best of it. Greatly appreciate your sharing your knowledge with the rest of us!
