Sitting hen

Hi,

My favorite hen is sitting on the ground a lot the last few days. I picked her up, her vent and feet looked fine. She hasn't laid all winter and my girls are just starting to lay again. Could she be getting ready to resume laying or is something wrong? When she does walk she looks fine. She picks up one foot high at a time.

Check to make sure that she does not have frozen/frostbitten toes. "High stepping" can be one sign of these conditions.
