Welcome to BYC

I would not try to take eggs in your carry on. Most Airports especially international flights, dont allow any drinking water food etc. onto flights. In the last year or so I have noticed lots of connecting airports in Asia scanning all carry on after disembarkation even when transferring. Last year I did get some hardboiled eggs through airport security in Indonesia as well as through airport security during a stop over in Incheon Korea. However at that point It was lunch time and I ate those eggs. I doubt they would have made it through customs in the USA. Most of the customs entry points on the west Coast have pictures of little old Asian ladies in cuffs for trying to smuggle exotic fruits into the US in their carry on. I don't know if the fruit sniffing dogs can detect eggs, but I wouldn't put it past them

Going to Pakistan I might try eggs in your checked baggage, butr again its probably a craps shoot.

Dear Rootball and Chicken Nurse,

Thank you very much for your feedback and views. I would want to take a bet in terms carrying eggs as accompanied baggage. If I am not to travel in the next few months, I would then try the postal services by asking a member or a friend in the US to mail them to me. In the meanwhile I would try continue exploring with airline rules. I am pretty sure no one in the Pakistani Customs or airlines would have any object to the import of a few innocent eggs.

Kind regards,

Shahnawaz

First off, on one post on this thread, it is LEGAL to import fertile hatching eggs into the USA, if you do it according to USDA regulations. You first must apply for a permit, and pay a fee of about $135. This process will take 2 weeks to get the permit. You must then set up a time window in which to use the permit,it will be issued for a 14 day window of which you must get your shipment in.Next you must determine how many eggs will come in your shipment,1 egg over your set amount, will nullify your import liscense. There are only certain countries that are acceptable for importing eggs from, those deemed Newcastle Free are allowed to import eggs to the USA.
Here is http://www.aphis.usda.gov/import_export/forms.shtml the link to all that is required of you,and the person the eggs are coming from. Many requirements must be done on the flock the eggs are coming from, and that cost to the flock owner is 500 euro's(at least in the UK) and does take some time.
Fed Ex will not ship eggs because they are a controlled import and must go thru US Customs agents.Your best bet is to seek out a US Customs Broker to help you thru the process, they in turn can seek out another broker from the country of export to insure the eggs are handled in the correct manner. The eggs must come back in a heated-pressurized cargo hold, and they cannot be x-rayed,or they will be useless. The best bet is to seek a non-stop direct flight,as to avoid the eggs going thru several countries port of entry requirements to be put on the next flight for the next or final destination. Importing live birds to the USA will require a 1 month quaratine, costing $200 per bird,if they die while in the hands of US Customs officials,it is your loss and the quarantine fee must be paid at the time of arrival, not the amount of birds that survive.Live birds can only come into 3 US Customs entry ports,.Miami,New York and 1 more, and must remain there for 1 month.Feed and any vet care is extra on top of the $200 per bird fee.
Eggs shipped from this country to another country, must also go thru a quarantine-USDA regulated process.Smuggling eggs into the USA can result in severe penalties and fines.Suspected smuggling can easily be proven because all permits for importing are kept on file.If you cannot provide proof of your import permit, kiss your butt goodbye. And open ther floodgates for lawsuits from your neighbors, because the USDA can exterminate all poultry flocks within a 50 mile radius of your place,if they indeed learn your eggs or birds came illegally.Imagine a large scale egg or meat raising type poultry farm close to you, with 100,000 birds in the houses, being destroyed and their financial loss because of stupidity on your part?

Well, can I ask the obvious question: Don't they have chickens in Pakistan?

What with all the hassles/costs involved in export-import of animals and animal products, wouldn't it just be more effective to get some Pakistani chickens?

Dear frenchblackcopper (poster #15)

I think you wrote all that for nothing. I believe the OP was trying to get eggs sent into PAKISTAN not the U.S.

OP I agree with the person who said 'can't you just get pakistani eggs?"
Just askin'

If you go to the link I posted, there are other pages there regarding information that is needed to EXPORT eggs to other countries as well.Sorry, should have posted that, but my first reply was to satisfy the falsehood that yes,you can import eggs into the USA,,LEGALLY.
