I'm looking in my American Standard of perfection for breeds published by the American Poultry Association. Thanks, we got 12 eggs for our broody girl, and 3 successes, these are the photos I have of the parents. If they're not SSH anyone know what they are? View attachment 3051630
The parents look ok. The combs look mostly like the Rose Combs, but cant see all of them very well - but I also don't see any single combs in the adults. Interestingly, these males in the parent pics don't have spangles at the ends of the neck feathers, nor do their tail feathers appear to end with a black spangle. They do appear to have "enamel white" earlobes. All appear to have "leaden blue" shanks. They are supposed to have white skin (as opposed to black skin of a silkie or yellow skin of some other breeds). So, with the single comb present on your one chick, and the parents having some inconsistency of spangles, they may very well have some other genetics in there and not be pure. Also, hard to tell size, but a SSH full grown male is only 5 lbs or so, and the full grown hen is only 4lbs or so - they are not very large birds. The parents look fairly large.
Overall, they are attractive birds - I like the look of the spangled birds, they are striking and attractive.
